BLACK TIE WEDDING

With June halfway done and engagements filling-up your newsfeed along with those save-the-dates coming closer, you know it’s officially wedding season! Since this time of the year is stressful enough, The Modern Alice has decided to do a mini wedding series. This four part series is filled with a curated selection of appropriate and stylish dresses fit for the most common themes seen throughout wedding season.

Now the first dress code TMA will be focusing on is a personal favorite: black tie. The easiest way to depict this theme is to think James Bond dress code or fairytale. Think glamour, luxury, suits, and elegant show-stopping dresses. It’s a formal event brimming with expensive taste. Now prior to providing a slew of dresses as suggestions and inspirations, here is a quick synopsis of what a black tie wedding entails to give you a better understanding of the ambiance during this very special event. Now do keep in mind the images chosen are a bit on the extreme end of a glamorous and luxurious wedding, but still very much the epitome of what a black tie wedding would entail.

AMBIANCE

When attending a black tie wedding, make it a priority to abide by the dress code. This is not the time to underdress. During this very formal event, your eyes will not be immune to the luxurious decor and expensive venue. This night will be drastic in its extravagance and A-List “feels.” Here’s what over-the-top black tie weddings look like:

Whether the black tie wedding you’ll be attending is in the city, the country, or a destination one, you will notice its formal dress code. You don’t necessarily have to clear out your savings for an haute couture or designer dress to attend, but it is a must to look exceptionally put together. Long dresses are typically a favorite, however, there are a few cocktail dresses that can hold up during a black tie affair. Here’s our favorites:
